Habitat for Humanity is the world's number one not-for-profit provider of housing for low-income families in need. Established in 1976, Habitat for Humanity has changed the lives of people all over the world. Today, the organisation works in thousands of communities and has built, rehabilitated and repaired well over 450,000 homes, sheltering more than 2 million people. Currently, every 7 minutes, a family has a better home and a better life thanks to Habitat for Humanity, its volunteers and partners.
1000 Homes for Hope
Habitat for Humanity Australia believes that eradicating poverty starts with a decent home. And for the past 24 years, we've helped some of the world's poorest families to do just that. But never before have we attempted anything as big as the 1000 Homes for Hope appeal.
Our plan is to build 1000 homes for 1000 of the poorest families in Australia and our neighbouring countries. We aim to implement 100 holistic housing solutions every single month between now and the end of this year, and reach our second target of 1000 complete homes by 2013.
